Vélo Théâtre

Vélo Théâtre
  • 1981

Fine arts graduates Tania Castaing and Charlot Lemoine are united in their belief that if actors are capable of presenting words and sentences, then they are also capable of representing objects, or even series of objects. The emotional punch of their performances comes from the fragile relationship established between performer and object. The result is an original visual vocabulary, a new form of expression which Tania Castaing and Charlot Lemoine helped to pioneer in Europe: object theatre.
Object theatre is a dynamic young domain of contemporary creation, and an exceptional educational tool whose potential applications are many and varied. A new generation of dramatists skilled in the use of all manner of "puppets," materials, objects and images are rapidly sweeping away the prejudices which once beset the nascent genre.
