Familie Flöz is heir to the lineage of modern European theatre embodied by Jacques Lecoq, Peeter Brook, Ariane Mnouchkine and, of course, the lasting influence of the masks associated with Commedia dell’Arte. The company has spearheaded a renaissance in mask theatre in recent years, developing its own distinctive style over a series of exuberant, burlesque creations inspired by ordinary people and the untold tragedy and comedy of everyday lives.
The company counts only four performers, but their breathtaking technical virtuosity allows them to handle the multitude of masks and countless characters who people their shows. This is life-size puppet theatre complete with oversized, cartoonish masks capable of laughing, crying and speaking without words. A perfect blend of controlled movement, rhythm and life-like illusion.
