On finishing his studies, Gilbert Epron turned to theatre and co-founded the Théâtre de la Mie de Pain with which he toured throughout the world. He met Pierre Blaise and joined the Théâtre Sans Toit as an actor, puppet master, builder of mechanisms and scenographer
In 2003, he founded the Le Grand Manipule company and, along with his crew, invented little burlesque forms where object theatre and acting come into their own.
He designs teaching equipment for students of puppet theatre and leads various puppeteer training workshops.
