Xavier Mortimer

A strange concert where the instruments are unleashed and the sounds break free. A calculated blend of magic, mime, juggling, comedy and music, peppered with visual illusions.

A wheezy musician comes on stage for a concert, but things don't go according to plan. He sneezes and suddenly, bubbles emerge from his instrument, materialise and come to life in a skilful blend of mime, magic and juggling.

The Ombre-Orchestre is an extraordinary show. As a result of untimely sneezing, reality tilts and gives shape to a whole series of supernatural events. Everything is all mixed up and flies away, refusing to be captured. Objects free themselves and come to life, shadows split in two and break free: a flute spews out soap bubbles, winged trumpets cross the backlit stage, the diabolo thinks it's a violin, scarves dance and notes rain down on the blank sheet music…

What's real? What's false? With delicacy, humour and an ingenuous eye, Xavier Mortimer goes through the zaniest experiences, against a backdrop of music he self-composed with Benjamin Dubost.
