Diego Stirman

A man enters carrying a basket, from which a living puppet emerges…

Between puppetry, clowning and object theatre, this is a show without borders: starting out as a Greek tragedy and ending up in the humid rice paddies of Vietnam, plunging deep into the mysteries of East Asian art!
Diego Stirman’s voice still resounds with the music of his native Argentina. Having started his career in Spain as a doctor(!), he made the acquaintance of a group of puppet and basket makers and soon discovered his professional destiny and artistic style: a theatre somewhere between pure folly and incongruous logic.
In the multi-faceted universe he has created for himself, Stirman develops performance pieces packed with humour and satire. Le Panier de Pandora is a perfect example, a loose reworking of the myth of Pandora performed by hand-crafted puppets.
