In a series of short sequences, a magnificent exploration of life’s deceptions and illusions. A brief history of imposture…

Five models take to the stage, totally naked. They gradually assume the garb of different eras, from the 16th century right up to the latest fashion shows, becoming different characters along the way. Are they just telling stories, or do they really believe them?
“Everything sails under false banners, not one word corresponds to the truth...” - Kafka.

Nicole Mossoux and Patrick Bonté tackle the age-old dichotomy of Reality and Appearances with intelligence and verve. In Histoire de l’imposture, they turn their attention to the codes of fashion and tease out the underlying falsities and illusions, holding a mirror to a society increasingly fascinated by superficial appearances. Against a beautiful monochrome backdrop, the performers probe the irony and artifice of social posturing and roles, conformist standards which shape and drive the characters they pick up and discard like clothes. A timely lesson perhaps, but time changes nothing: these (im)postures could be recycled endlessly...
But the show also hints at that nagging feeling of detachment from one’s intentions and desires, external forces of the divided self, a masquerade of life which leaves you with the impression of being an impostor in your own body…
