The Company’s performances are informed by this spirit of artistic community, uniting artists from different styles and backgrounds, drawing inspiration from choreographers, musicians, actors, circus performers, video artists, puppeteers and more. Dance, theatre, music and video are all folded into an emotional whole, expressed in a universal language to reach the widest possible audience. The show itself thus becomes a space dedicated to play, whether in a theatre or on the street, with dance providing the raw material.
One of the Company’s defining features is its exploration of contact dance, used as an instrument of communication and dialogue. Bodies meet, harmonise, attract and repel one another. This shifting relationship to the Other is the foundation on which dance is built.
Vendaval is also involved in a project dedicated to cultural development in rural areas in the Gers region, the company’s home.
