SPINA represents the coming-together of a diverse array of professionals of different nationalities (French and Italian) and from different creative backgrounds: theatre, puppetry and visual arts. SPINA is a word with many possible meanings, evoking a protean, constituent force, at once a source of danger and a means of physical defence and support. Informed by this duality, the multiple art forms that we pursue and promote with SPINA constantly challenge us as well as defining who we are: human beings, at the crossroads of cultures, languages and mythologies.

Drawing deep from the well of intimate biographical detail – exploring themes such as inheritance, childhood, betrayals and dreams – SPINA offers a contemporary take on the weight of tradition and memory. From the stage to the streets, the company creates hybrid artistic experiences starring both live actors and puppets.

Their roles interweave and overlap, conjuring up a theatrical universe in which dreams and reality intertwine to pierce the veil of secrecy and reveal the world anew.
