Compagnie Marie Lenfant is particularly devoted to the development of contemporary dance, taking into account the cultural, economic, social and political contexts while sharing its creative and educational methods.

From their studio in Le Mans, the company has been pursuing its idiosyncratic choreographic research since 1995, while also working on educational outreach projects, creative workshops and welcoming guest companies for residencies and performances as part of the Les soirées à suivre... series.

Marie Lenfant’s work focuses on the expression of humanity through movement, combining strength and fragility with a determination which inspires her to take audacious artistic risks.

Her dancing eschews referentiality in favour of attentive observation of humanity. This approach ensure that her movements are never unbridled or dictated by a desire to astonish: they simply convey the singular presence of a body which she questions and explores with each new creation, sketching the contours of a radically different universe.
