Since 2008, Compagnie Macadâmes’ artistic journey has unfolded in the public arena. Macadâmes’ work is site-specific, letting their movements do the talking. Using physical movement in public spaces to tell original stories, they also reimagine the place of the audience in environments not designed for artistic performance. The corporeal contortions of the mime artists, imbued with a dose of clownish humour, seek to capture and convey the emotions inspired by the fabulous spaces in which they appear. They inhabit these public spaces, reflecting on the role of art in everyday life, pushing back the frontiers between the ordinary and the extraordinary.
Compagnie Macadâmes is committed to exploring life’s great questions, examining love and other taboos through the combination of live music and mime, making full use of the poetic possibilities offered by the musicality of movement and the physicality of sound.
