Since 2004, Cécile Roussat and Julien Lubek have been patiently constructing their own distinctive theatrical universe, which continues to expand with each visual, poetic and multidisciplinary show they create.

Together they are the founders of Shlemil Théâtre, collaborating on creations which have enjoyed considerable success.

This company has become a genuine laboratory for their theatrical and aesthetic experimentations, a vehicle for their creativity which enables them to remain in direct contact with the stage and the audience.

At the same time, they are frequently courted by prominent conductors to write and direct high-profile musical productions for the stage.

Since 2010 they have been regular collaborators of numerous opera houses.

In recent years they have been entrusted with the task of directing a new production of Mozart’s Enchanted Flute, as well as handling direction, stage design and costumes for Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas, Rossini’s Cenerentola and Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto.

In 2018 they staged Grétry’s Raoul Barbe Bleue in Norway, and in 2019 they will be presenting a new staging of Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito.

Education is another avenue through which the pair have sought to expand their theatrical vocabulary: Julien Lubek taught mime at the Conservatoire National d’Art Dramatique in Paris from 2010 to 2014.
