Keisuke Kanai is a Japanese dancer, mime artist and juggler. Sébastien Dault is a French-born specialist in the "Washington" trapeze style. The pair met as students at the Centre National des Arts du Cirque in Châlons en Champagne: it was to be the beginning of a life-long friendship. After graduating, they featured in Cirk 13, directed by Philippe Découflé, and toured the world with the show. The idea of founding their own performance company soon took root and Oki Haiku Dan was born.
