Yasmine Hugonnet moved to Paris at the age of 13 to study at the National Conservatory for Contemporary Dance, going on to explore contact dance, improvisation, Buto and choreographic research. Her approach to movement has been heavily influenced by her experiences with Odile Rouquet, Peter Goss and Lisa Nelson. She has been creating her own choreographies since 2000, starting out with the Synalèphe collective. In Taiwan, she began working with visually-impaired artists before focusing more on her own work since 2006.
Between 2009 and 2013 she undertook a lengthy spell of individual research and experimentation in the studio. In 2009 she founded the company Arts Mouvementés in Lausanne, going on to produce three solo shows: Le Rituel des Fausses Fleurs (2013), Le Récital des Postures (2014) and La Traversée des Langues (2015). Yasmine Hugonnet has never stopped honing her inquisitive approach to movement as attention and posture as performance. In the process, her unique choreographic style has taken on a hint of ventriloquism.
