Habbe et Meik
Mime and mask theatre inspired by television.
Two young German mimes, Michael Aufenfehn and Hartmut Ehrenfeld perform decked out in comical, endearing masks, dominated by great bulbous noses.
Their debut show Nez en moins earned positive notices for its sense of observation, the perfection of their mask play, the comic energy of the characters and situations, and the sense of bemused tenderness they give off.
Their latest creation, Mon Dieu !, takes things further. One scene in particular stands out: Meik gets inside the TV set and Habbe, an incurable channel surfer, forces him to act out every role in every show.
This show is ironic, cruel, sometimes outright nasty. It’s also full of laughs, but sometimes they leave a bitter aftertaste.
