Cie Marta Carrasco

It starts with a row of naked backs. Then the group of men, women and children pose for a family photo.

An extraordinary carousel of images: their eyes dance to the sound of classic tunes, an Amazon appears with horns on her head, a bride-to-be gets up on stilts… Where on earth are we? The group faces front for a family photo. A voiceover makes the introductions, just before the disaster. Thereafter the show veers off to explore the foggy paths of memory. A series of images appear, each one chased off by the next: a little boy with a strange appearance, a fiancée on stilts, a young wife explaining the recipe for a dish the other actors are already eating, a woman laden with enormous breasts which turn out to be children’s heads...
This show owes much to the dichotomous vision of Ancient Greece: Eros and Thanatos, lust and rape, love and war, family and exile... Oscillating between the entertaining and the disturbing, scenes of comedy and horror, the lust for life and the death wish.
Marta Carrasco evokes the visceral, physical truths of our inner lives in visible, theatrical form.
