Gohei Zaitsu

Eyes bulging out of his head, mouth wide open in a guffaw of laughter, a man bounds onto the stage. Suddenly gripped by an almost palpable sadness, he freezes. His eyes drop but his mouth remains fixed in a grimace of exaltation as he begins to dance.
In a departure from Zaitsu’s previous performances, this show contains very little mime. But comic Buto is a rare art form, and this piece provides an opportunity to showcase the many facets of his talent.
