Hakanaï is a Japanese word meaning ephemeral, evanescent... This notion provides the starting point for a unique performance dreamed up by Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne, combining dance (inspired by Buto) digital performance and visual art. A white cloth box is bathed in video projections, becoming an abstract, moving graphical landscape. Inside the box a dancer appears. Her body, also covered in images, strikes up a dialogue with the weightless forms projected all around. This meeting of body, movement and imagery exists on the cusp of two worlds: the Real and the Virtual. They resonate together, creating a dream-like netherworld through which the audience must plot its own path.
An entrancing journey which refuses to sacrifice the immanent sensibility of the present instant on the altar of technology.
