Echos is a polyphonic experience combining mime with spoken word, singing and music.

Echos is inspired by a legend involving Mount Kusenbe, in Mizuki Mishiyama’s native region. Echos is the story of a woman who discovers herself and in doing so regains her dignity. Beaten down by the insatiable wave of hatred sweeping the planet, powerless in the face of this reality, she seeks solace in misery and nurtures her anger in isolation. She fosters the emergence of her inner sadness, the faithful companion who will be her guide back to the world. No longer will she pray with her eyes closed, enveloped in the darkness of others. Her soul has withdrawn back into itself. This Self is her only guide, drawn from deep within the shadows of her heart, casting new light upon her own world and the world of others. By following this internal light, she reaffirms her femininity in a society which denies women a prominent role.
Echos is an exotic journey shot through with an enticing strangeness, and incorporating mimed passages of extraordinary precision (although the actresses have no formal mime training) and presenting an anatomical dissection of Japanese social rituals.
