Echappées Belles is a show in two parts, the first of which, Issue de Secours, is a walking performance which makes use of public spaces. The second part, Point de Fuite, is a nocturnal performance in a fixed location, opening up the stage to the eclectic life stories of its characters, gradually peeling back the layers to reveal their strengths and flaws.
A metaphorical stroll in the garden, an exploration of intimate subjects through the words and movements of these time-weathered characters: their hopes, their fears, their beliefs, their desires. Casting off stereotypes to get to the very heart of what it means to grow old in this day and age, striking up an intimate, unfiltered connection with the audience.
The performance space is designed to create the impression of a garden: a haven of peace where time stands still, a childhood playground, a place teeming with life… or a place of eternal rest! This metaphorical space has an innate poetic power, helping to expand our imaginative horizons.
Combining lightness of touch and underlying profundity, humour and poetry, theatre company Adhok tackle the subject of time past and time still to come. A theatrical, choreographic tableau in which the bodies do the talking. Ageing is synonymous with grief and renunciation, but it also offers countless opportunities for renaissance… whatever your age!
