Studio Marta

Led by Zoja Mikotova and based at the Janacek Drama University in Brno, Studio Marta is comprised entirely of hearing and speech-impaired students. The group’s second original creation, Caprichos, is inspired by Goya’s Caprices, taking as its starting point the famous scene in which a young man lays his head on the table and dreams, surrounded and overwhelmed by a host of fantastical visions. But in this austere interpretation there are no monsters in sight, simply human beings whose combined gestures and expressions evoke the essential forces of beauty and fear.
